About Me

I’ve been an executive coach for more than thirty years, first as a professor in the Business School at Georgetown University, later as head of the U.S. arm of an international consulting firm focused on executive development, and later still as an SVP of a large national organization specializing in senior executive career transition and coaching. I’ve coached well over 500 senior officers, in industries ranging from mining and entertainment to hospitals and schools. I’ve had my own coaching firm for more than a decade.

Along the way, I earned a BS from the University of Southern California and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. I worked in marketing research at a place called Audience Studies, spent short stints at IBM and Booz Allen and Hamilton (a strategic consulting firm), and served as an executive in companies small and large, public and private. I ran a non-profit and have been a member of both corporate and non-profit boards. I survived two successful start-ups, operated under government regulatory and contracting constraints, and worked independently as a sole practitioner — all while being a wife and mother (the most challenging and rewarding job of all).

This diverse tapestry of experience has given me perspective, great joy and a good many bruises — and hopefully a little wisdom. It’s also introduced me to some truly exceptional people. I hope this blog will let me share a little of what I’ve learned from them, along with the lessons of a long, rich and complex life.
